from the session at UNSW: ALTC Roundtable: an Event to Support ALTC Grant Applicants [b]The following presentations: [/b] [b]ALTC Grant Schemes Overview Associate Professor Peter Hutchings, Acting Director of ALTC Grants, Awards & Fellowships[/b] While Peter Hutchings was talking i thought that we should link to the ELN from the ALTC exchange. [b]National Teaching Fellowship Professor Peter Goodyear, [/b]University of Sydney: Peter's research is on 'design patterns' and will be useful when the compare the 'designs' that are possible within the ELN structure. I think we need to look at: [i]Goodyear, P & Retalis, S. (in press). Technology-enhanced learning: design patterns and pattern languages. Rotterdam: Sense Publishers.[/i] [b]Discipline and Competitive Grants, plus Experience from Reviewing Dr. Will Rifkin, UNSW[/b] From Will I got the term to "invite re-invention". I think, from the discussion with Matt Todd that that is exactly what we are able to achieve in the setup of this project. Maybe look at Everet Rogers "diffusion of innovation". Wiil also spoke about capacity building. [b]Associate/Teaching Fellowships - Outcomes and Advice Professor Jenny Edwards and Dr. Raymond Lister, UTS [/b] While Will was talking I noted that we should go to Chem research conferences (not just Sci education ones). Matt is going to eResearch at USYD where he might be able to re-inforce the importance of this project. Jenny has a "how to run a project" manual that we should get. [b]Advice on Dissemination from the D-cubed Project Dr. Tilly Hinton, University of Sunshine Coast[/b] This outlined a project commissioned by ALTC which is to provide a framework for dissemination. Three components: 1) assess climate (climate 'readiness', engage to increase awareness 3) transfer and nurture those that follow. Terms like "illuminative" evaluation and "engaged" dissemination were used that were new to me. WRT assess climate readiness we have the ELN pilot and the work being doing with INTERSECT that has surveyed academic staff as to their perceptions of e-research, data archiving etc etc.
